Unlocking Potential:

How Legislative Norms Impact Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities

Why does this disparity exist, and are Ukrainian companies prepared to bring back workers affected by the war? Victoria Sukhanenko, Head of Occupational Safety Consulting at BDO Consulting LLC, has delved into the matter.

At the initiative of ESOSH, the “Occupational Safety” magazine, Insight Ukraine, the Mindy Charitable Foundation and the Ukrainian State Employment Service, a panel discussion titled “Accessibility + Safety” took place at the XX International “CommunTech” Exhibition. The aim was to bridge the gap between society and the challenges of employing people with disabilities, offering constructive solutions to the matter.

The main topics of discussion included:
  • Creating workspaces for individuals with disabilities, as well as male and female veterans
  • Providing adaptive specialized attire
  • Training and job placement for people with disabilities
  • Legal and economic aspects of inclusion in Ukraine

Representatives from the Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Veterans Affairs, State Employment Service, Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Trade Union representatives, businesses, civil associations, and charitable foundations participated in the discussion.

Speakers presented an in-depth analysis of the lack of legislative norms for employing people with disabilities and also shared their own recommendations for creating safe and comfortable working conditions for them.
