BDO in Ukraine Receives Recognition for Its Contribution to the SAFER Reconstruction Project
On 5 August 2026, the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine marked its 15th anniversary and celebrated Builders’ Day, the professional holiday of Ukraine’s construction industry.
The anniversary event, held in Kyiv, brought together representatives of public authorities, international diplomatic missions, professional associations, partner organisations, as well as executives and senior managers from Ukraine’s leading construction, development, engineering, and manufacturing companies.
BDO in Ukraine participated in the event as a partner of the SAFER Reconstruction project, which was implemented with the support of Swedish partners and aimed at providing veterans with professional HSE training to support their integration into the construction industry and enable their contribution to the safe reconstruction of Ukraine.
BDO in Ukraine Recognised for Its Contribution to the SAFER Reconstruction Project
During the event, the results of the SAFER Reconstruction project were presented. As part of the initiative, veterans completed both theoretical and practical training, gaining new knowledge and skills in occupational health and safety, workplace safety, and the European risk-based approach to HSE. The practical component of the programme was delivered in cooperation with construction companies, enabling participants to combine training with hands-on experience on active construction sites.BDO in Ukraine was recognised for its professional contribution to the implementation of the project, particularly for developing the course training materials, providing expert HSE support, and contributing to the preparation of trainers and future instructors for veterans. Receiving a certificate and a letter of recommendation from the Swedish partners was an important recognition of BDO in Ukraine’s role as a trusted, professional, and responsible expert in HSE, training programmes, and sustainable reconstruction.
For our team, participation in this initiative was both a valuable professional experience and an important social commitment. The project brought together support for veterans, the development of modern professional competencies, European safety standards, and a practical contribution to Ukraine’s future reconstruction.
Viktoriia Sukhanenko, Head of HSE Consulting at BDO in Ukraine, noted that the company’s involvement in initiatives of this kind was made possible by the support of BDO’s leaders, Vira Savchenko and Andrii Borenkov, whose active civic engagement and understanding of the importance of responsible and safe reconstruction have been instrumental in making such projects a reality.
It is this commitment from the company’s leadership that enables BDO to contribute to initiatives aimed at supporting veterans, developing modern professional competencies in HSE, and fostering a new culture of safety within the construction industry.
The anniversary event of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine also served as an important platform for professional dialogue on the future of the construction sector, workforce needs, digitalisation, transparency, European standards, and the role of partnerships in the country’s recovery process. Key topics discussed included strengthening the workforce capacity of Ukraine’s construction sector for 2026-2030, training specialists for reconstruction efforts, and building a modern, safe, and competitive construction industry.
Our team values the opportunity to contribute to initiatives like SAFER Reconstruction and remains committed to supporting projects that strengthen human capital, advance safety standards, expand HSE education, support veterans, and promote the sustainable recovery of Ukraine.
We would like to thank the SAFER Reconstruction partners, the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, our Swedish partners, and all participating organisations for their trust, collaboration, and shared commitment to a project that delivers tangible value for Ukraine’s future.
