BDO in Ukraine has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ukrainian Water Association (UWA) to promote sustainable water resource management and the development of water infrastructure.
The current state of water resources in Ukraine remains critical, particularly following the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP. The need to develop a strategy for restoring the Kakhovka Reservoir, engage international experts, and ensure temporary water supply in regions affected by military aggression represents only part of the challenges facing the country.
In this context, the partnership between BDO in Ukraine and UWA holds particular significance — it marks an important step towards consolidating efforts in sustainable water management, raising awareness of the water sector, and implementing joint initiatives. Its significance was confirmed by the signatories of the memorandum: Andrii Borenkov, Head of Advisory at BDO in Ukraine, and Yevhen Kun, President of the Ukrainian Water Association.
Key provisions of the memorandum
BDO in Ukraine and UWA have identified the following priority areas for cooperation:
- Equitable partnership to support the development of Ukraine’s water sector
- Exchange of information and expertise on water supply, wastewater management, and efficient use of water resource
- Identification of barriers and development of solutions to improve water infrastructure
- Joint participation in events — forums, seminars, and business meetings
- Promotion of international partnerships with representatives of the water sector in the EU, USA, and other countries
- Regular strategic meetings.
“We are proud to partner with the Ukrainian Water Association. For BDO in Ukraine, this collaboration is not only a new area of activity but also a meaningful social mission. We share the principles of the Ukrainian Water Association — transparency, efficiency, sustainable development, and openness to dialogue. We believe that a sustainable approach to water resource management is critically important for the country’s future, and this partnership is yet another example of our commitment to sustainable development”, said Andrii Borenkov, Head of Advisory at BDO in Ukraine.
