BDO in Ukraine has become a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) — a leading organization that has promoted trade and investment interests between the United States and Ukraine since 1995.
U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) is the largest Ukraine-focused business association in the world, headquartered outside of Ukraine, in Washington DC. USUBC represents over 200 companies and organizations working in both the U.S. and Ukraine across all key sectors of the economy. Its mission is to foster business ties between Ukraine and the United States, protect the interests of its members, advocate at the government level in both countries, and promote a favorable investment climate both in the United States and in Ukraine. USUBC actively supports its members in navigating the Ukrainian and U.S. markets through robust programming, advocacy, individual engagement, exclusive content offerings, expertise, information exchange, promotion of members’ activities, and facilitating B2B and B2G networking opportunities.
For BDO in Ukraine, this is an opportunity to strengthen international expertise across consulting, law, corporate finance, and infrastructure projects. It also enables us to contribute to shaping the recovery agenda through open platforms for dialogue and business advocacy. We continue to expand international cooperation, share knowledge, support investors, and work with partners to build Ukraine’s economic future.
“Freedom Means Business”
The initial steps of our collaboration with U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) began during the International Forum “Freedom Means Business”, held in Sacramento, California, on August 24, 2025, in celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The event was organized by the Ukrainian American House, the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, and USUBC.
Vira Savchenko, the CEO of BDO in Ukraine, joined the panel “California–Ukraine Business Connection: U.S. Private Sector Engagement in Dynamic Recovery,” sharing her perspective on Ukraine’s investment potential. Acknowledging real risks, she emphasized that new opportunities are opening and deserve the focus of international partners and investors.
Key points highlighted by Vira included:
- A highly educated, digitalised market with tax incentives that remains attractive to investors
- Defence technologies and dual-use innovations are being actively developed in Ukraine with the support of the Defence.City ecosystem
- A new Public-Private Partnership (PPP) law enabling large-scale and local projects with donor involvement and state guarantees
- Privatisation of state-owned and confiscated russian assets, which are often available under favourable conditions.
“Freedom without business is fragile, and there is no business without freedom”, — these words became Vira’s personal takeaway from the day, as she noted.
The forum also featured speakers from various sectors who revealed different facets of the Ukrainian context. EJ Rogers, President of California Materials, discussed the strategic importance of mineral resources and responsible extraction. Dmytro Ovcharenko, Founder and CEO of Alcor, shared the story of Ukraine’s IT industry's resilience, highlighting its remarkable dedication to clients even in the early days of the full-scale invasion. Randi Thompson, President and CEO of Kidsave, emphasised the importance of supporting children affected by the war.
Other panels, featuring Mykhailo Tkach, Olga Rudenko, Aliona Nevmerzhytska, and others, addressed topics ranging from demining to media freedom and information security.
It was a day of sincere conversations, powerful messages, and meaningful connections, during which Ukraine was represented with strength, dignity and authenticity.
For BDO in Ukraine, this is about more than just a new stage of international engagement. We are honoured to be part of a community that believes in the power of partnership, open dialogue and economic recovery.
